The Police Academy, Garda College, in Ireland has during the past year implemented a new pedagogical direction of its courses. The police training that dates back to 1786 changing from a traditional teaching-by-telling method to a problem-based pedagogy. This method focus on engaging and activating the students in the learning-process in comparison to its passivating counterpart. Learning by doing, and trial and error are vital terms in the problem-based learning. The courses also work closely with the Law School at the Limerick University, which brings additional valuable input to the aspiring polices future work.
