The German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) are launching a collaborative approach to science with projects mainly targeted at citizen research and scientific work. This is an approach that not only works to bring in new perspectives to science but also has great prospects to boost the sharing economy (more on this subject later on eLearningworld). Stefan Müller, Parliamentary State Secretary of BMBF, explains: “More and more people are discovering in their leisure time, science in itself, watching rare animals, explore the history of their town or measure climatic phenomena. Citizens increasingly want to not only be informed about results, but involved in the research process. These exchanges between civil society and science the Federal Ministry of Research wants to deepen.” In this spirit people regardless of their educational background in science is invited to participate in a cooperation that works for the benefit of all parties that is interested in science. Between 2017-2019 BMBF is funding citizen science project with four million euros. Source: Pressemitteilung BMBF – Bundesministerium für Bildung und Forschung
