Many Silicon Valley entrepreneurs like Facebook-founder Mark Zuckerberg, eBay-founder Pierre Omidyar and Laurene Powell Jobs, widow of the late Steve Jobs has invested in AltSchool, while its founder Max Ventilla is a former executive of Google. In this perspective the AltSchool can be seen as a model of what the 21st Century School should be like according to Silicon Valley. In short it could be described as Montessori 2.0, with highly individualised learning paths for all students, including one-to-one teaching, mixed age classrooms, learning by doing as the prime pedagogical method where group-work is an important part.
