Edtech to transform Professional Training: Police enters Virtual Reality for Neuroscience research

By measuring brain waves during training in a virtual reality environment the researchers improving the education to make the police officer make the right decision as well as train on which verbal commands and communication that works to de-escalate the threatening situation. The VR-simulator from which the data is collected is used on a daily basis at the police office. One of the researchers, Drs. Rick Houser, explains: “An officer who is able to understand the intentions of others may be more effective in making these high decisions and consequently lower the risk of shooting a community member, particularly those who are unarmed or an accidental shooting.” The research results also are very useful to refine the process when hiring new police officers.  Source: University of Alabama news
